This unused idea for The National Geographic magazine's 'Sea Monster' issue was an attempt to create a deep-sea ambiance that was more akin to true underwater photography, rather than staged 'artwork'.

Personally, i would have preferred going this route, though some of the final peices were quite attractive. I think there was merit in trying as best we could to tone down the 'cg' look.
